Safeguarding at Bury Rounders League

At Bury Rounders League, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment where everyone—especially children and vulnerable adults—can take part in rounders with confidence.

Our Commitment to Safeguarding

We take safeguarding seriously and follow strict policies and procedures to protect all participants. Our approach is in line with UK safeguarding legislation and best practices, ensuring that welfare remains a top priority.

How We Keep Players Safe

  • Dedicated Safeguarding Team – We have a Welfare Coordinator (Designated Safeguarding Lead - DSL) who oversees all safeguarding matters and handles high-risk concerns. Each team also has a Welfare Officer, trained to Safeguarding Level 1, who manages low-level concerns and reports them to the Coordinator.

  • Clear Reporting Procedures – We encourage players, parents, and volunteers to report any safeguarding concerns. Our structured process ensures that issues are addressed quickly and effectively.

  • Safer Practices – We promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and appropriate conduct both on and off the field, ensuring all players and teams understand their safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Compliance with UK Legislation – Our safeguarding policies align with the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018, updated 2023), and The Care Act 2014 to ensure the highest standards of protection.

  • Whistleblowing and Confidentiality – We encourage open communication and provide a safe space for concerns to be raised confidentially, without fear of retaliation.

Safeguarding is Everyone’s Responsibility

We believe that safeguarding is a shared responsibility. Whether you're a player, coach, volunteer, or parent, we encourage you to stay informed, remain vigilant, and report any concerns.

If you have any safeguarding concerns or would like more information about our policies, please contact our Welfare Coordinator.

Together, we can ensure that Bury Rounders League remains a safe, welcoming, and supportive place for all.
